The institute is based in Nuremberg and was founded in the mid-1990s. It originally started with courses for children, but now deals with almost everything that is important for healthy working.
Fun and entertainment are an important key to the sustainability of measures to improve occupational health. Through its initiatives and projects, the Institute actively supports companies in achieving their goals.
Good ergonomics means first and foremost “reaching people” and only secondarily “meeting standards”.

The Institut für Gesundheit und Ergonomie GmbH, based in Nuremberg, has stood for health in the workplace and in everyday life since 1998. Through its initiatives and projects, the IGR supports companies, public authorities and private individuals in the ergonomic optimization of their workplaces.
One focus is the certification and development of ergonomic products and services. Other areas of activity include carrying out workplace analyses and workplace health promotion measures. The Innovation Award of Ergonomics, which is presented to companies for outstanding achievements, is held in high esteem. The IGR studies serve to investigate and prove the ergonomic effectiveness of products and solutions in theory and practice. The portfolio is rounded off by a wide range of training courses and seminars with certificates.
A holistic approach was adopted early on, which not only deals with the occurrence of health complaints, but above all with their prevention.

The IGR Insitut für Gesundheit und Ergonomie operates nationwide and is a partner of INQA (Initiative Neue Qualität der Arbeit, supported by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs), as well as a founding member of the State Working Group on Prevention – a project of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Health.
The IGR is part of a strong network of doctors, therapists, scientists, company health management staff, representatives of the authorities, product developers and retailers.
