Ergonomics Innovation Award April 2023

Nuremberg Nuremberg

Nuremberg in March 2023

This shows that interest in ergonomics is constantly evolving. The challenges of the working world are becoming greater, but private users are also becoming more demanding, e.g. when it comes to healthy sleeping or a carefree school day for children with sophisticated ergonomic concepts for school bags and backpacks.

The IGR traditionally awards the Ergonomics Innovation Prize. It was that time again this year:

Wherever people go, they come across products and solutions that make life healthier and more sporty or simply bring joy. At work and in private life. Successful ergonomic concepts are characterized by ease of use and high utility value. Ergonomics not only means good design that makes products easier and healthier to use, but also whether the correct use is communicated in an understandable way. The term “usability” combines the terms utility value, user-friendliness and comprehensible operability.

But the jury evaluates even more in the Ergonomics Innovation Award. Applicants should demonstrate whether they live the topic of ergonomics themselves. It is not enough just to offer the right products and services externally. The companies show what they are actively doing for in-house health, e.g. by setting up ergonomic workstations and suitable programs for exercise and healthy eating. To increase the well-being and thus also the motivation and productivity of employees.

Wide range of industries

In 2023, the origin of the applications from a wide range of industries was once again striking, both in terms of the nominees and the award winners.

This shows the importance of ergonomics in the most diverse areas of daily life.

Be it industrial companies that offer ergonomic solutions for the logistics and shipping sector, manufacturers of mattresses and sleeping systems or suppliers of child-friendly school bags and backpacks that grow with the child. Whether in the booming bicycle and fitness sector or in the classic office with chairs and furniture: they all live and breathe ergonomics. All award winners were thus able to position themselves as exemplary companies in terms of their overall ergonomic orientation.

Award and motivation

The Innovation Award for Ergonomics recognizes achievements in the past and present that are worthy of recognition. At the same time, it should also motivate us to continue to develop the idea of ergonomics and a humane and therefore people-friendly world.

Finally live again

Ergonomics has something to do with people and thrives on interaction, on touching and feeling. We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to meet our award winners in person again at the Innovation Award ceremony. After the pandemic, the lively exchange of ideas and emotions is particularly important!
